MDRAO Recertification Exam Information

The Recertification Exam is for technicians who are interested in updating their certificate of completion and / or are preparing to write the Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (CMDRT) exam with the CSA.
This exam is open to anyone that works in reprocessing and fulfills the following requirements:
Option A
1. Successful completion of a recognized medical device reprocessing educational program.
AND
2. Four thousand (4000) hours work experience in medical device reprocessing in the last five years. Evidence of experience shall be provided via a performance checklist.
Option B
1. Successful completion of a recognized medical device reprocessing educational program.
AND
2. Twenty-Five hundred (2500) hours work experience in medical device reprocessing in the last five years.
AND
3. One hundred fifty (150) hours Continuous Learning in medical device reprocessing within the last five years. Evidence of experience shall be provided via a performance checklist.
The Recertification Exam may be purchased with or without the MDRAO manual and workbook. The fee to purchase the exam WITHOUT the books is $330.00 plus HST. The fee to purchase WITH the books is $490.00 plus HST and shipping.
The manual and workbook will be mailed to you if purchased. A confirmation email and instructions will also be emailed to you once the online registration and payment have been completed and received by the office. Your exam voucher code will be released to you upon approval of your submitted checklist.
The receipt that will be received will be the confirmation email of your order. This is to the email you provided when completing the online payment. This receipt is the only receipt you will receive. The office does not keep copies of these receipts. Keep your copy for further use for income tax purposes or reimbursement from your employer. The MDRAO does not provide government receipts for tax purposes. This is a not for profit organization not a college.
- This examination is available in both English and French
- Must have access to a computer with a webcam. This exam is written online with an online proctor. There is no other option to writing the online exam.
- The exam must be completed within four months of receiving your voucher code.
- A mark of 70% must be achieved on the exam. A certificate of completion will be emailed to the email address that was provided at the time of registration. The certificate is valid for 5 years from the certificate date.
- If the exam is not completed successfully, one re-write is permitted. At the end of the exam once the mark is given and if below 70%, a link will be provided to complete the registration and payment of $200.00 to re-write the exam. The technician has 14 days from the initial exam date to re-write.
- No registration refunds or substitutions for registered students will be permitted. All payments are final and non-refundable. Once you pay for the exam, you shall not be given a refund. You shall not be given a refund if you fail to write the final exam within the four month time frame due to any circumstances
- Scan and send completed checklists to education@mdrao.ca
- Your exam voucher code will not be released to you until your completed checklist is reviewed and approved and registration is completed.
