CRITERIA:
A current voting member of the MDRAO.
Must attend the MDRAO Conference.
Must be nominated by a Manager, Supervisor or Peer (with Manager’s approval).
Must work as staff in the reprocessing department not the operating room.
Cannot have won the award before.
Has demonstrated excellence through involvement with one or more of the following: Education and training in Medical Device Reprocessing, a special project resulting in improvement to job process or design, teaching/motivating or mentoring others, development and/or implementation of an innovative idea, promotion of quality improvement.
ASSESSMENT:
The categories used in assessing the nominations for the ASP Award of Excellence are as follows:
Process Change – has the individual contributed to changes in process in the department or in other areas of the hospital.
Teaching Mentoring – does the individual contribute to the teaching process in the department or hospital.
Innovation – has the individual taken the initiative to implement change through a process that has not been attempted before or challenges the status quo.
Quality Improvement – has the individual improved the quality of the services provided by SPD by his or her actions.
THE AWARD:
One thousand ($1,000) dollars to be used for continuing education, contributing to career development in Medical Device Reprocessing. This could include course/seminar registration, materials, expenses, etc.
The MDRAO will pay the registration fee for the conference and two-night hotel accommodation.
